Colonel:
Sir Donald Sinden
Wiseguy: Michael Brandon
Pearly: Martin Clunes
Stumpy: John Thomson
Scaredy: Sir Norman Wisdom
Unbeknownst
to the mice they are the products of a ten-year secret genetic
engineering research programme, which is about to conclude.
The mice, fed up with their incarceration have been plotting
their escape for some time. But when one of them overhears
the goons (lab technicians) talking about the Vivi Section
they decide there is no time to waste. They must put their
escape plan into effect immediately
..
The
mice were filmed by experienced wildlife cinematographer Marianne
Wilding who has worked extensively on wildlife programmes
for broadcasters throughout the world - she was one of the
first westerners to film Panda's in their natural habitat
and she was also responsible for the footage used in the old
Carling Black Label Squirrel "Mission Impossible"
advert!
Marianne
found filming animals for a drama an interesting challenge.
"Mice don't take direction, can't learn lines and unless
you've got a stash of cheddar they aren't interested. There
were a few artistic differences, a bit of tension on set but
you expect that sort of thing with so many large egos in one
cage".
